What is Shotblasting and Heat Treatment?
The quality of the electroless nickel plating is dependant on thorough
surface preparation - through shotblasting and heat treatment solutions. In addition to our chemical cleaning and
activation processes, NiTEC also have the capability of shotblasting
components up to 20 tonnes in weight. Aluminium Oxide 180-220 grit is
used to ensure a high standard of surface finish is achieved through heat treatment solutions.
The shot
blast booth used for shotblasting and heat treatment solutions has a capacity of
216m3 and is made from 316 stainless steel - minimising the levels of particles which settle on the work.
The heat treatment facility at NiTEC
-
Our heat treatment facility has furnaces with ranges of 0 - 700°C
- Furnace 1: 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m high
- Furnace 2: 1.7m x 1.7m x 2.2m high
- Our chart recording equipment monitors the temperature changes of both the furnace and the work. This enables us to create heat treatment profiles which determine shotblasting solutions for many different requirements.
- This monitoring also ensures the material achieves the required temperature for the required time - eliminating heat sinks on larger components or mixed load types.
- Heat treatment solutions can be used for stress relieving and de-embrittlement as pre-plate and post-plate treatments.
- Small components can be loaded onto shelves to maximise the heat treatment capacity and minimise the cost of the treatment for the company.
We do also offer electroless nickel plating as an option, the process of diffused nickel plating and bright copper plating.
