Special Electroless Nickel Plating Projects
NiTEC have many years' experience at working on various special projects throughout the world. With the UK's largest plating tank standing at 10 metres in length, NiTEC have the capacity to fulfil most, if not every plating requirement.
Projects have ranged from plating bikes for off-road pursuits, to a of series of aluminium benches that are exposed to all weather conditions. NiTEC have also plated metal sculptures, most notably David Mach's wire coat hanger spaceman (seen left) and his garden urn.
Mute Meadows Public Art Project Case Study
The Mute Meadows Public Art Project based in Derry is known as 'Northern Ireland's biggest artwork'. The project itself is consisted of 48 steel columns that varied in length from 7 to 10 metres with one side chilled iron shot-blasted, and the other electroless nickel plated.
The Mute Meadows Public Art project is based outdoors and exposed to harsh weather conditions, therefore, nickel plating was must to ensure corrosion resistance and longevity of the artwork.
With NiTEC housing the largest tank in the UK they were the obvious choice to achieve the high quality requirements of the project. To view the video of the installation of the plated steel columns click here.
